Biography

Dudley Pennell is Professor of Cardiology at the National Heart and Lung Institute, Imperial College, London.

He is also Director of the Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (CMR) Unit and Director of Non-Invasive Cardiology at Royal Brompton Hospital, London and Section Head for Genetics and Imaging at National Heart and Lung Institute at Imperial College.

His current research interests in CMR are measurement of myocardial iron and the assessment of chelation treatment, the assessment and differentiation of cardiomyopathies and diffusion tensor imaging of myocardial architecture

Professor Pennell has published >570 research papers and recently the 3rd Edition of the textbook “Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance” as part of the Braunwald cardiology series.

He has been awarded a number of fellowships, including in 2014 to the Academy of Medical Sciences. He is a recipient of the Gold Medal Award from the Society for Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance.
